Need a Ride?

Not anymore. Just confirmed that I will be riding across the Atlantic on a Beneteau 473 with two South African RYA Offshore Yachtmasters. The owner, Charles (a Brit), will not be coming along for the ride as he has business to tend to. There is still the possibility of 1 or 2 more crew members joining. However, that is up to Charles and will be determined later.

I don't have any pictures of the boat itself but I pulled some schematics from the online owners manual and some pictures online from it's sister ship.

I'll be flying down the day after graduation (May 10th) to meet up with the boat, crew and owner in St. Maarten. Once there we'll continue with the provisions and going through the boat's systems and specific procedures. There should also be enough time to go through a shakedown sail, for my benefit, before we head East. One of the captains is actually the full time captain of the boat so he knows the boat inside and out.

The expected route will depart from St. Maarten headed straight for the Azores. After a brief stop for more supplies we will continue on to Gibralter and ending in Palma, Spain.
